Jesus (and Prayer) Part 2

Jesus Prayed!

The greatest reason for us to pray is that Jesus prayed. Since Jesus prayed we need to prayer. Jesus was not wasting time or energy! Jesus felt the need of prayer and wanted to speak with the Father. Many nights Jesus went off to be alone with the Father. Jesus even prayed and blessed the food. Jesus prayed for the people and for himself. I can promise you that there is no way you can make it as a follower of Jesus and not be a person of prayer. Jesus prayed and we need to pray. I simply ask the question, does your prayer life look like the prayer life of Jesus. That is a question I ask myself.

Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives , as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.

Luke 9:28-29

Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

And as He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

Luke 5:15-16

However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.

So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Luke 22:32

“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

2. Jesus taught that we should pray !

Don’t miss this!

Luke 10:2

Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

Luke 11:2

So He said to them, “When you pray, say: our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Luke 18:1

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

Mark 13:33

“Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

Luke 19:45-46

Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,

saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.'”

3. Jesus told us we could make request when we pray!

Mark 11:24

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Matthew 9:38

“Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Mark 9:28-29

And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast him out?”

So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Matthew 21:22
“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

I want to keep this simple and yet profound.
Are you following the example of Jesus in prayer?
Are you believing, asking and praying in faith in Jesus Name?
What are you expecting to happen?
It is time to believe and launch out in prayer.

I simply could not make it without prayer neither would I even want to. I love to talk with Jesus. I love to fellowship with God and commune in the Spirit! Oh Glory, Thank God He gave us prayer.

Prayer is simply a conversation with God. You can pour out your heart and desires and needs and pains and joys. God can pour back into you His Words and you can enjoy fellowship with God. I love to walk and talk with Jesus along the roads of the world. I love to lay in the floor or on the earth and pray before the Lord God Almighty.

To me there is nothing more wonderful that fellowship with God in prayer.
Don’t miss this blessing in your life.

Without prayer how will we know the way? Oh sure we have the Word in the Bible but that does not tell us who to marry or where to live or should we be called to preach or farm or what we should do with our life in this world. For all this and much more we need Prayer!!!!

God bless you and have a blessed life of prayer. Remember should you pray long enough and right you will hear God saying ‘Go’! Be a witness and bring others to Jesus as Savior and Lord.
