Gambia

1996

We had a wonderful crosswalk in this little African nation. It is English speaking so it was a very free and easy witness. People in all of the other nations around Gambia speak French.

We stayed in the Banjul area and carried the cross along the coast road and beach and then back east toward the interior.

Along the beach area crowds of men gathered around trying to sell us tourist trinkets. It took them a while but they then discovered we were not western tourists but cross carrying Jesus witnesses. They then became different and ready to
hear the message of Jesus.

Denise, my wife walked with me much of the time in this country.

We gave out piles of gospel material and Jesus stickers.

Many people gave their lives to Jesus in this nation during our crosswalk.

Oh, I must add that in the late 1980’s my son Joshua carried the cross here. He was 17 years old at the time and his younger sister Joy was with him driving the rental car. She would drive up the road a few miles and wait for him. They, too had a glorious time in The Gambia.
