Northern Marianas Islands

1994

We arrived at the airport and hired a taxi to take us to our hotel. The next day Denise and I took a taxi to the far end of the island to a place called ‘Suicide Hill.’ This is a where many Japanese soldiers committed suicide rather than surrender during World War II.

It rained all day as we walked carrying the cross. Many people stopped to talk to us. We prayed with many to receive Jesus and become a follower of Jesus. One man brought us lunch on the road! We were wet but praising God all day. I do love walking with my wife, Denise! Glory. The local newspaper did a story about the crosswalk.

We had given gospel material to a policeman we met yesterday. He read it and prayed the prayer to receive Jesus. He came back the today to get more gospel material!

One man arrived in his car crying out, “I am a sinner, I am a sinner!” I led him to Jesus. This is just typical of the deep conviction we saw on this island.

We had a wonderful time on this beautiful little island.
