Sovereign Knights of Malta

1988, 2000

The Sovereign Knights of Malta is the smallest nation in the world.

The Order is still recognized under international law as a “sovereign entity”; and it exchanges ambassadors and diplomatic representatives with over 90 countries. On August 24, 1994, the Order was admitted to the United Nations by being granted ‘Permanent Observer’ status.

This small nation has only a tiny bit of land on the island of Malta and in Rome.

In 1988 while carrying the cross in the nation of Malta I carried the cross into the doorway of the Embassy of the Knights of Malta there. My son, Joshua was with me and he did the same. That way we actually carried the cross on ‘in their country’! Since all they have is embassy territory this will have to do as far as a crosswalk.

In the year 2000 my wife, Denise and I were in Rome and we visited the main embassy there.
