Tuvalu

1994

We had a wonderful walk with the cross on the small island nation of Tuvalu. There are only about 9,000 people living in the country, with about three thousand of them on Funauti.

When my wife, Denise, and I arrived at the airport she took the bags to the little hotel and I carried the cross. A few people were waiting at the airport to greet us. The news of the cross coming had reached here. The local radio station also had me do a program about the crosswalk.

We carried the cross from one end of the island to the other and back and around on different roads.

Denise rented a bicycle to ride alongside me. We packed food and drink and had a beautiful time with the people and nature.

We had a wonderful time preaching at an Assembly of God church on the island. Many people came and we saw about twenty people saved at the church. Many people from the church came to see us off from the little airport and they hung garlands of shells around our necks.

This is a beautiful peaceful, place and a slow way of life. We helped many people find Jesus.
